good emphasis on the tree using contrasting colours, the black and white on both sides is also good balance, but it depends on what youre trying to say with the picture as whether this is really neccassary.

I've been coming back to this over and over again since the day you uploaded it, trying to think of what I wanted to say, and I think I've finally got it.
At the initial viewing, I was dead sure for about a minute that it was a full size tree growing on some structure in the water. But the line on the wall gave it away, and even now I can still tell how I made the mistake. Very neat.
The lighting on the tree itself is excellent - I love the halo effect. In all, it makes the photo less harsh than your usual shots, and this one definitely benefits from that.
Also relating to lighting, the black all across the left is neat, but it's made better by the streaking of the tree's shadow into it. I can't really decide if this would have been better or not, were there a more gradual transition between the dark and light halves. Anyway, I'd be interested in seeing more concepts like this.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
